WHAT GOT YOU INTO YOUR JOB: I’ve always loved taking pictures + doing anything that requires creativity or thinking outside of the box. I also like to switch things up a lot, so being in social media I have the freedom to be creative in different areas + try new things. I love being unique + finding ways to stand out so getting to scroll Pinterest, find inspo + watch the visions come to life is a dream job for me. I never thought my job would be Instagram, but now it's a forever kind of thing.

WHAT GOT YOU INTO YOUR JOB: I originally got into hair when I randomly applied at a hair salon at 15. After starting cosmetology in high school I knew absolutely nothing about the industry but thought it would be a fun second job + a good way to meet some people. Quickly I realized, I really loved the clients + seeing what I could do to elevate their experience + had a bit of a natural talent for it. Never thought twice about not pursuing it as my career after that!

WHAT GOT YOU INTO YOUR JOB: When I was younger, I remember watching my aunt transform into a hairstylist. It wasn’t just the skill she had with scissors and color, it was the way she made people feel when they left her chair. The way a simple haircut or style could light up someone’s face, like she was giving them a fresh start, really stuck with me. Growing up, I was always a little extra, very expressive, vibrant, and a bit different. Being gay, I felt like I could understand the power of transformation and self-expression. I loved the idea of helping others feel better about themselves, and I could see that hairstyling was a perfect way to do that. It was like I had found a way to blend my love for creativity, my desire to help, and my passion for making people feel their absolute best. So, I took the leap into the world of hairstyling, and it felt like a natural fit. Every day, I get to live out that dream, making people feel amazing by just embracing who they are much like my aunt did for me when I was growing up.

WHAT GOT YOU INTO YOUR JOB: I fell in love with doing hair in my grade 12 year in high school when I got my first salon job. I love the chemistry behind it and the atmosphere.

WHAT GOT YOU INTO YOUR JOB: As many people know, I’ve been a dancer my entire life and before I started my hair career I was always known as the designated hair girl with helping my teammates with their hair changes in between numbers and I loved how much fun it was getting to play with my best friends hair! Then it wasn’t until high school when I enrolled in my first cosmetology class in grade 10 and I was hooked right from the first day! I did cosmetology all throughout high school and the day I graduated I knew that this was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life! Truly the best way to describe my job is that it doesn’t feel like a job! I get to hangout with my best friends play with their hair and make them feel beautiful, what else sounds better then that!

WHAT GOT YOU INTO YOUR JOB: I've always just loved anything about being at the salon. The atmosphere + getting my hair done. I'm a girly girl so I looked forward to learning about my hair + products + chatting with my hairstylist. I love that I have a career where I can create meaningful connections, make people feel confident + not be in a desk everyday, I'm not very tech savvy lol.

WHAT GOT YOU INTO YOUR JOB: MY AUNTIE GAVE ME FOILS IN HER OWN SALON WHEN I WAS IN KINDERGARTEN, AND BEING A HAIRSTYLIST WAS MY GOAL EVER SINCE THEN. IT'S A LOT MORE THAN BRAIDING HAIR AND PAINTING NAILS NOW, BUT I WAS DETERMINED, NO MATTER HOW THE JOB DESCRIPTION CHANGED OVER THE YEARS!

I STARTED WORKING AS AN ASSISTANT IN A SALON WHILE I WAS STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL, AND I QUICKLY FELL IN LOVE WITH THE SALON ATMOSPHERE. IT’S SUCH A POSITIVE, SOCIAL SPACE WHERE PEOPLE CONNECT, SHARE STORIES, AND SUPPORT EACH OTHER AND I LOVED WATCHING HOW THE STYLISTS MADE PEOPLE FEEL BEAUTIFUL AND CONFIDENT. THAT REALLY INSPIRED ME AND MADE ME WANT TO BE PART OF THAT EXPERIENCE, NOT JUST BEHIND THE SCENES BUT HANDS-ON. I’M SO EXCITED TO SEE WHERE MY JOURNEY AT FRANKIE TAKES ME!
