HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN HAIR?
I have my master's degree in Architecture. I did that for a while, and when COVID hit, I got laid off. I realized I wasn't really happy in my career choice. I had been doing hair since I was about 15, so I decided to put myself through barber school and found a shop to apprentice for. After that, I never really looked back. So, I just kind of restarted my career at 28.
HOW DO YOU WANT CLIENTS TO FEEL AFTER A HAIR APPOINTMENT?
I just want them to feel more like themselves, more comfortable in their own skin. I always want them to feel a little more empowered about who they are or more confident in trying something new.
WHERE DO YOU DRAW YOUR STYLE INSPIRATIONS FROM?
Well, I have a master's degree in the field of art, so I am naturally more creative. I have certain styles, like in fashion and things like that. I really love urban streetwear, vivid colors, and cool color palettes and placements. However, I also appreciate practicality and the everyday hair look. I really like lived-in looks and natural texture.
I find inspiration from anything, whether it's color, an activity, day-to-day life, or considering someone's role as a mother and what would be more practical for her every day. So, that's where I draw it from – it's based off person-to-person and curated from there.
HOW DO YOU LIKE TO SPEND YOUR FREE TIME?
With my dog, Bailey. I am basically like that 50-year-old cat lady, but just with me and my dog. I love to go to the mountains, I love to travel. I am from the States, so I am back and forth quite a bit there. I love trying out new food and restaurants; I am a big foodie. [Do you have any favorite restaurants?] Baijo downtown is my 10/10 favorite; every time it just hits the mark for me. But anytime something new and interesting pops up, I am down to try it.
WHAT’S YOUR SIGNATURE CUT OR STYLE?
I love a good, sassy, textural bob, or any short style or fun pixie moment. Alternatively, I enjoy the long tailored barber cut or men's cut. I really appreciate that style; I think it's super lived-in, practical, natural-looking, sassy, fun, and flirty.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PART ABOUT FRANKIE?
I just love the family orientation. I appreciate that everyone comes from so many different branches of life, yet somehow we mix very well together. I think Tess and Niela have done a really good job of curating a strong team environment. It's genuinely nice to feel supported in expressing your individualism, both in the way that you do hair, and who you are as a person.
