Beyond her incredible mastery in the world of hair, she's a horse lover and a warm-hearted friend. Known as the go-to psychologist for Niela and Tess, Micayla is always ready to lend an ear, or share some insightful advice. With the quirkiest dance moves that light up any room, she's the life of the party, and you can bet she'll be the last one standing. HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN HAIR?
I had never been one to love school and never wanted to go to post secondary. I had been working at a hair salon just for fun, and I always really enjoyed it but my parents were super strict about going to university that I never thought of it as an option. After working in the salon and falling in love with the industry. I just decided to do it and go all in and that was that. I did it, and here I am. Almost 10 years later!
HOW DO YOU WANT CLIENTS TO FEEL AFTER A HAIR APPOINTMENT?
I’ve always wanted my clients to feel like they were coming to visit their friend. A fun appointment where they get to leave with amazing hair. Anyone that knows me knows that I love to talk so getting a therapy session is also a must. Most importantly I want them to feel comfortable in my chair, just an enhanced version of themselves. I guess I could say that's my thing. Enhancing natural beauty. I specialize in lived in dimensional colours and extensions.
WHERE DO YOU DRAW YOUR STYLE INSPIRATIONS FROM?
Umm, Brooklyn (laughs). This is something I am trying to figure out. I feel like your mid 20’s is all about self discovery. I feel the last two years has just been me trying to figure out what I like, who I am, and where I want to go. For clients, this has given me the opportunity to find my own little niche in the hair world and perfect my craft. I would say for fashion style, it's very simple and basic. Give me a baggy shirt and some cargos and I’m happy as can be. Pinterest has also really helped me step outside of my comfort zone with fashion and inspire me to try new things!
HOW DO YOU LIKE TO SPEND YOUR FREE TIME?
If anyone’s ever trying to find me, I’m either at the salon, riding my horse, or spending time with Ryan! I’m surrounded by amazing friends and family who I also love spending time with!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PART ABOUT FRANKIE?
There’s a million things that I love about Frankie. I can honestly say it never feels like work. Imagine working with your best friends. Frankie truly feels like a family. Tess and Niela have created this incredible space where we all get to be creative, authentic to ourselves and just feel 100% supported in everything we do. Frankie is so much more than “hair salon” it’s breaking down stigmas of working in the beauty industry.
